Google Fonts for Confluence — Which Custom Typography App Fits Your Team?

Every Confluence page looks the same — same font, same size, same limited formatting. When you want a landing page that stands out, a team announcement that gets read, or documentation that looks professional, Confluence's built-in typography holds you back.

Several apps on the Atlassian Marketplace try to solve this. We built Google Fonts for Confluence to give teams access to the full Google Fonts library (1,798+ families) with a live preview editor. In this post we compare it against every alternative so you can choose the right one.

The Problem with Confluence's Default Typography

Confluence gives you one font family, a handful of sizes, and basic bold/italic. That's it. If you want to:

  • Create a space homepage that looks professional
  • Make team announcements that actually get noticed
  • Use your brand font in documentation
  • Display text at large sizes for presentations

...you're out of luck with the default editor. That's where font apps come in.

Data from Atlassian Marketplace, April 2026.

Fonts for Confluence (Skanda) leads in installs at 222, but users report serious issues — the 1.5-star rating reflects broken access controls and usability problems. It's also free, which explains the install count despite poor reviews.

Webfonts for Confluence (TNG) is the oldest competitor with 10,000+ historical downloads, but it's Data Center only — no Cloud version available. If you're on Confluence Cloud, this isn't an option.

Where Google Fonts for Confluence Stands Out

Largest font library — 1,798+ Google Font families, more than any competitor. Every font in the Google Fonts catalog is available.

Fuzzy search — Type part of a font name and find it instantly. No scrolling through a dropdown of 1,798 options.

Live preview with RGB color editor — See your text styled in real-time with the selected font, size, and color. The color picker includes quick-select swatches and direct RGB editing for precise brand color matching.

Auto dark mode — Styled text automatically adapts to Confluence's dark/light theme. Your text looks great in both modes without any extra work.

Free for small teams — Full features available free for up to 10 users.

Where We Could Improve

  • No visual effects — Custom Fonts Pro offers shadows and gradients. We focus on clean typography rather than effects, but this is something we may add based on user feedback.
  • Smaller install base — At 15 active installs, we're the newest entrant. We're building trust through regular updates and responsive support.
  • No Data Center version — We're Cloud-only for now. If you're on Confluence Data Center, Webfonts by TNG is your best option.
