QR Code for Confluence — Which QR App Should Your Team Use?

Teams print Confluence page links on posters, equipment labels, desk signs, and handouts. A QR code on a physical object that links to the relevant Confluence page saves everyone from typing long URLs. It's a small thing that removes friction in offices, warehouses, and events.

But Confluence has no built-in QR code generation. A handful of marketplace apps fill this niche — it's a small market with roughly 130 total installs across all apps. We built QRCode for Confluence to let teams embed QR codes directly into pages with a simple /qrcode slash command. In this post we compare it against the alternatives.

Use Cases for QR Codes in Confluence

  • Equipment and asset labels — Stick a QR code on a server rack or office printer. Scan it to open the Confluence page with specs, instructions, or support info.
  • Event handouts — Print QR codes on conference materials that link to detailed session notes or documentation.
  • Office signage — Put QR codes on meeting room doors linking to booking pages or room policies.
  • Onboarding materials — New hires scan codes on their desk to open IT setup guides, team wikis, or HR resources.
  • Warehouse and inventory — QR codes on shelves link to inventory procedures or safety docs.

What's Available on the Marketplace

Only five apps generate QR codes for Confluence. The market is tiny:

Data from Atlassian Marketplace, April 2026.

This is one of the smallest app categories on the marketplace. No app has crossed 100 installs. None are Cloud Fortified.

Seibert's qr2page (71 installs) leads — from the same vendor behind draw.io and Templating.app. It generates QR codes from the page menu for printing, focused on physical-to-digital bridging.

Barcodes for Confluence by codalyx (38 installs) is the only Data Center option and supports multiple barcode formats beyond QR codes. Most reviewed app in this category (4 reviews).

Atlas Inc.'s QR Code Generator (13 installs) was last updated in April 2018 — effectively abandoned after 8 years. Still listed and still charging $150/yr.

Moves QR Generator by Dmove (6 installs) is the only completely free option but has minimal adoption.

Where QRCode for Confluence Stands Out

Slash command workflow — Type /qrcode in the Confluence editor and the macro appears immediately. No navigating to page menus or admin panels. The fastest way to add a QR code to any page.

Encode any content — Enter any text or URL, not just the current page URL. Encode website links, email addresses, phone numbers, Wi-Fi credentials, or plain text. Other apps like qr2page only generate codes for the current Confluence page.

Five size options — Choose from X-Small, Small, Medium, Large, and X-Large. Use XS for inline badges, XL for posters and signs that need to be scanned from a distance. Most competitors offer a single fixed size.

Re-editable — Click on an existing QR code and select Edit to change the content or size. Your settings are preserved across edits.

Free for small teams — Full features available free for up to 10 users.

Where We Could Improve

  • 2 installs — The smallest install base in this category. We launched in early 2025 and are building traction.
  • No print-focused workflow — Seibert's qr2page generates QR codes from the page menu specifically for printing and attaching to physical objects. Our app embeds QR codes inline on pages.
  • No other barcode formats — Barcodes for Confluence by codalyx supports multiple barcode types (EAN, Code128, etc.) beyond QR codes. We only generate QR codes.
  • No Data Center support — Cloud-only. Barcodes for Confluence is the only DC option.
  • No batch generation — Can't generate QR codes for multiple pages at once. Each one is added individually.
